President’s Message
 President/Executive Director,
Donna Welch and daughter,
Keonna Welch
“As a mother raising two daughters ages, 5 and 14, it is my responsibility to teach them to first value themselves in order to be valued”. It’s my responsibility to teach them to “respect” themselves as young woman, in order to demand respect from others. Furthermore, to encourage them to “embrace and love” themselves for who they are, and not for what society say they will or will not be. As mothers, we have to teach our daughters how to rise above the culture of degrading women. I encourage all mothers and caregivers raising young girls today, to become more involved in their daughter's life. We must take time to listen and make time to talk, because one day your daughters will look in the mirror and see a reflection of you.

Founded in 2002, My Daughter’s Keeper Worldwide, Inc. (MDK Worldwide) is a 501(c) (3) educational and self-development non-profit organization with national office based in Central New Jersey, created to provide support and resources to mothers and/or caregivers and their daughters (ages 10-17) to help strengthen individuals, families and communities.
Established in 2007, My Daughter’s Keeper of Tampa Bay, Inc. (MDK of Tampa Bay), an affiliate of MDK Worldwide, was created to empower, encourage and embrace both mothers and/or caregivers and their daughters (ages 12-18) to help strengthen their relationship while identifying solutions to problems that may arise in their daily lives such as: (communication, peer pressure, dating, etc.). In addition, MDK of Tampa Bay, Inc. provides self-development opportunities for women and girls to improve their quality of life.
MDK of Tampa Bay along with the national office works with mothers and caregivers promoting parental accountability, encouragement and empowerment in accepting the responsibility for raising their daughters to become productive, confident, and self-respecting young ladies. Our primary goal is to help instill into our daughters the importance of developing a good foundation, and to provide the essentials that will encourage and prepare them to pursue their dreams and goals for the future. Ultimately, we hope the values instilled in them will make a positive impact in their community and society at large.
Our program will encourage youth involvement through the Youth Advisory Committee; which will allow a group of teen girls to meet monthly to collaborate their ideas and to have a voice in the planning process.
